Centred around the prophet Ibrahim, Muslims celebrate Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his most treasured possession (his son) at the word of the lord.
As Ibrahim was about to do so, God replaced his son with a goat, which was sacrificed in his stead.
For Eid al-Adha every year, the act is celebrated by sacrificing cattle and livestock, and the meat divided between friends, neighbours and the poor.
